Samuel L. Brown, MSW's, Philosophy on Family

Throughout his professional career Samuel L. Brown, MSW, has lectured on the importance of a nurturing family relationship and the on going influence of family life on the development of individual personality. He believes, "Your character is what distinguishes you from another person. Character represents the quality of your personality. In other words, your character is who you are--your moods, your temperament, your disposition, and your nature. Character determines the nature of all human relationships --with your family members, in your marriage, in your role as a parent, in your work relationships, and in your ability to be a loyal and trusting friend." He believes, "The family, serves as a primary unit for meeting the basic needs for love, acceptance, approval, warmth, security, protection, and spiritual guidance."

The family must function as:
