Accreistre Publishing Company:
Founded in 1998. The word Accreistre comes from the Old French word accreue. The English translation is accrue, meaning to "increase, gain, or to grow." The name Accreistre was chosen because it symbolizes Samuel L. Brown life's work of empowering and inspiring others.
About Samuel L. Brown, MSW
After retiring from a rewarding career as a Marriage and Family Counselor, Samuel L. Brown, MSW, was inspired to write and share his lifetime of practical experiences. While in the process of research and writing, he spoke to several published and unpublished authors. He discovered how difficult and expensive it was to have their literary works published. Hearing their stories motivated him to learn as much as possible about the book publishing business. After attending numerous writing workshops and publishing seminars, as well as having six articles published in Onyx Magazine, he decided to self-publish. Because of his determination, he has published three books: Notes on Life and Relationships; An Attitude of Love: On Life and Relationships; Psalms of Conscience: In search of a right relationship with God and humanity. Through his continuous effort, he also provides helpful book publishing information to other aspiring writers.
Education:
Samuel L. Brown, MSW, attended Columbia University for postgraduate studies in social psychology. He received his Master of Social Work degree from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Community Planning on a VISTA Fellow scholarship. VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) a two-year internship program, which included training and practical experience as a juvenile probation worker in the Baltimore County Department of Social Services, and as a community organizer in a designated public housing project.He received his Bachelor of Science degree in history and political science, with a minor in secondary education from Florida A & M University.
Specialized Training:
He received clinical training in Transactional Analysis at the Espousal Center in Waltham, Massachusetts, and Connecticut Psychotherapy Center in Stamford, Connecticut. Transactional Analysis is a method of psychotherapy founded by Dr. Eric Berne, a psychiatrist and author of Games People Play: The Psychology of Human Relationships.
He also received clinical training for Parent Effectiveness Training, and became an independent instructor of clinical psychologist, author, and three times Nobel Peace Prize Nominee, Dr. Thomas Gordon's Parent Effectiveness Training(P.E.T.) program. This program taught effective communication skills and conflict resolution methods.
Professional Experiences:
He began his professional social work career as a marriage and family counselor with Family & Children's Service in Stamford, Connecticut. He was also assigned the task of providing social work services to the first State-funded moderate-income housing projects in Stamford, where he provided counseling to 608 families. After a few years, he became the coordinator of outpatient clinical treatment services at the Greater Bridgeport Regional Narcotics Program in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Later, he became a caseworker with the State of Connecticut Department of Human Resources.
As a Certified Independent Social Worker, Samuel L. Brown, MSW, CISW, maintained a private practice as a clinical consultant, marriage, family, and group therapist. During his professional career he conducted numerous workshops, training seminars, and delivered more than 100 lectures on family life education topics. As a guest lecturer, he taught Transactional Analysis and Gestalt Theory at the University of Connecticut in Stamford, Connecticut.
